DAY ONE: LISTENING
DAY TWO: GRAVITY
DAY THREE: LOADING
DAY FOUR: ECCENTRIC
In Day One we talked about Spirit/Listening, business trends in the Pilates world, cascading social media, and the Michael Miller Pilates view on the ideal within the original work.
In Day Two, we reviewed the day before, focused on gravity being the uniform medium in which we are challenged to find uniform development in order to survive in a uniform gravity field. We explored why the catenary shape is relevant to Pilates. We started a review of the original Mat exercises, what they are individually, and how they fit into the sequence.
In Day Three, we completed the Mat review
and then went on an excursion to the book store to see what was available in Pilates books.
AMAZING! The glut of Pilates books is GONE! Only those that are leaders and profitable are present. The NEW, HOT subject is CORE! So many books on CORE! Knowing how MMP views CORE, we looked for the authors' definition of CORE and found some simply missing and others headed towards what MMP already knows:
The CORE is the inflection point of the CORNU spiral. So, outside of the world of Pilates, in the new fad subject of CORE, the Michael Miller Trademark "Cornu" is headed for good things. How ironic that Cornu is destined for major popularity outside of the Pilates world that gave it birth! And how reassuring to know that in the pursuit of CORE, Cornu will become the image revealing its essence, how to get it, how to engage it, and how to take it throughout the body.
Because CORE is the inflection point in a Cornu spiral (between hips and shoulders), won't it be fascinating to have to acknowledge that there is a SECONDARY CORE in the body at the inflection point between shoulders and ears!!
In Day Four, we went to Eagles Nest and exhaled into the Solstice, waited, listened for the need to breath in, and released into that need when it showed up to inhale into a new state of being in Summer.
Thanks to you, the convention reached far beyond our small cadre of "in the flesh" participants. Thank you all for writing, calling and texting your participation.
Soon I'll be announcing what's next for Michael Miller Pilates, its affiliates, customers and clients. Till then, breathe well, enjoy Summer, and be confident that very good things are ahead in the Pilates world.
Wishing you good geist,
